JUNIOR COACHING - EXTRA PLACES

As a result of the very good response to the offer of coaching we are delighted that the Driving Range sessions are fully subscribed. HOWEVER there are still spaces at the Church Hall sessions.

It has therefore been decided to open the Church Hall sessions to sons, daughters, and young relatives of members, who although too young to become members, may be interested in joining in the next year or two.

The sessions are on Tuesday night in Killermont Church Hall from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. Clubs will be provided.

Any budding golfers should contact Robert / Alistair in the Pro’s shop (942 1482) or myself at john.telfer13@ntlworld.com
If we have a positive response I will issue a new rota in a week or two.

Douglas Park Eagle - Sunday 1st July 2012

The Douglas Park "Eagle" Open Mixed Foursomes celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2012.
The unique and impressive bronze eagle trophy, designed by Mr F. Malcolm Robertson of Glasgow School of Art in reference to the Roman Eagle emblem of the Club,  was commissioned by and presented to the Club by Past Captain John and Past Ladies' Captain Jean Watson in 1972. One of the pioneering events of its kind, the tournament continues to attract competitors from far and wide. In order to retain this interest and in celebration of the tournament's special birthday, the prize fund has been substantially enhanced.
Entry Forms can be obtained from the Main Lounge, Ladies' Locker Room and Professional's shop or can be downloaded from this website (see link on homepage)

Presentation to Douglas Park Golf Club

Douglas Park Golf Club was delighted to accept a gift of a painting of a view of Turnberry Golf Course donated by Bashir Maan not only an enthusiastic and respected member of Douglas Park Golf Club but also was one of the most respected Councillors in the City of Glasgow. His varying political career in Glasgow as a JP, Councillor, Magistrate, Court Judge and Bailie spanned 33 years. He retired from politics in 2003 having completed his 4 year term as Convener of the Strathclyde Joint Police Board when on retiring from this post was presented with the painting by the Chief Constable of Strathclyde.
Club Captain Colin McEwen commented “ I am absolutely delighted to accept this painting on behalf of the Club particularly in that it holds a special memory for Bashir. To donate it to the Club for others to enjoy is a very kind gesture and will be much appreciated by our members.”
